Report from the Five Nations Test Series March 2019

by Carol Broomfield

The Spanish National Lawn Bowls Team arrived in Pathos Cyprus for a five Nations test series, competing against teams from Cyprus, Israel, Jersey and The Isle of Man. The teams comprised five men and five women, competing in singles, pairs trips and rinks. All the results are on the bowlscyprus.net website showing how well Team Spain performed, winning the Men’s competition, then by combining their score with the Women’s’, winning the overall series. A tremendous achievement by all the bowlers and one that should boost the confidence of Team Spain going forward to the Atlantic Rim World Qualifying Championships, being held in Cardiff this May. Details of the playing schedules and ticket sales are on the Bowls Wales website.

The following bowlers from the Levante Lawn Bowls region took part:

Carol Broomfield (San Miguel) singles and ladies pairs, Eve Bell (Bonalba) replacement in trips and rinks, Terry Morgan (Quesada) singles and men’s pairs, John Pooley (Emerald Isle) lead trips and rinks, Roli Bell (Bonalba) trips skip and 3 in rinks and Greg Sperring (BBC) two in trips and rinks.
